Client Overview

The client is a large regional agricultural manufacturing and retail supplier operating across multiple sites in Australia. Circular Futures was engaged to review waste management procurement and supplier arrangements to reduce costs, improve recycling performance, and support long term sustainability and compliance objectives.

Challenge: Waste Procurement Strategy and Supplier Optimisation

A large regional agricultural manufacturing and retail supplier required a comprehensive review of its waste management procurement spend and supplier arrangements. The objective was to reduce operating costs, improve recycling performance, and ensure the business could meet long term environmental, compliance, and operational goals over the next five to ten years.

Approach: Strategic Waste Procurement and Market Analysis

Circular Futures partnered with the client to define key business priorities, including financial performance, sustainability targets, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.
We conducted a detailed market analysis of waste management service providers across Australia to assess national coverage, capability, and pricing structures. Based on this analysis, we shortlisted suppliers best suited to the client’s geographic footprint and operational needs.
A detailed recommendations report was developed, outlining the optimal approach to supplier tender development, evaluation criteria, commercial modelling, and implementation planning. Circular Futures also acted as in house technical counsel, providing governance, technical oversight, and project management support throughout the procurement and transition process.

Outcome: Reduced Costs and Improved Recycling Performance

Circular Futures delivered end to end project management across strategy development, commercial negotiations, and supplier transition. The project achieved a 15 percent reduction in waste management costs and a 20 percent increase in recycling rates, delivering both immediate savings and long term sustainability improvements.
